Associate Professor Dr. Marina Yusoff’s Academic Contribution to the Artificial Intelligence Technologies Program
🎓 Associate Professor Dr. Marina Yusoff has significantly contributed to the Educational Program “Artificial Intelligence Technologies” at Gumilev Eurasian National University during the Fall 2024 semester (October 2024 – December 2024). As a visiting professor under the Department of Artificial Intelligence Technologies, Faculty of Information Technologies, she delivered two main courses: Machine Learning (for undergraduates) and Decision Support Systems (for postgraduates). These subjects are essential in equipping students with advanced artificial intelligence, data analytics, and computational decision-making skills, aligning with the university's goal to nurture future-ready graduates.
The Machine Learning course aimed to develop students' capabilities in applying machine learning algorithms and big data techniques. It covered many topics, including data preprocessing, supervised and unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, and deep learning. Each lecture was reinforced with practical lab sessions, ensuring students understood theoretical foundations and gained hands-on experience. Assessment methods included lab work, group projects, and a final examination, fostering individual proficiency and collaborative innovation.
In the Decision Support Systems course, Associate Professor Dr. Marina Yusoff introduced students to the principles, models, and methodologies used to build intelligent systems that support organizational decision-making. The course topics included managerial support tools, DSS development methodologies, expert systems, group decision support, and the integration of artificial intelligence into DSS. Students engage in case study discussions, term papers, and group projects, focusing on real-world relevance, particularly in ICT governance and enterprise DSS applications.
Through these courses, Associate Professor Dr. Marina Yusoff has provided students with a strong foundation in AI and decision technologies, blending academic rigor with practical relevance. Her teaching enhanced students' technical competencies and prepared them to apply these skills in industrial, governmental, and research environments.
